Once every year, every girl has to meet that big dilemma. What to wear for my birthday celebration this year? We think of what we have. Dream of what we wish we had. And then we start spending weeks in advance planning that perfect outfit.
Well, our founder, Ting, gives some insight into her ideal birthday frock this year. With a penchant for fancy dresses, you can find her constantly browsing online for new dresses suitable for her upcoming parties and events. However, we all can feel that pain of that pretty penny spent too often for one-of-a-kind pieces.
She decided that the penny is worthy of spending, if spent smart. That’s when she discovered the amazing online dress rental company, “Rent the Runway”. At Runway, you can choose those lustworthy designer pieces to “rent” for a special event rather than beat hard on that wallet for a one-time purchase. It’s a quick process too! You rent and return with a prepaid label and leave the dry cleaning to them. Quick and easy!
The photographer for this shoot was Henry Han, an amazingly talented photographer known in the fashion industry. Ting was lucky enough to have met him while working on a lookbook shoot. With numerous commercial shoots and fashion prints under his belt, it’s no surprise that he’s also the former photographer for Phillip Lim! These shots show that he apparently has the knowledge and skill in bringing out the beauty from every click of his camera.
Ting’s Pick:
Ting selected a gorgeous Marchesa Notte dress from Rent the Runway. Marchesa is best known for dressing Hollywood stars in elegant and romantic designs. Ting’s selection features a sheer paneling with a pink tulip skirt. The voluminous cut of the skirt accentuates the waist beautifully. And the neckline is embellished with gold beading, emulating a costume necklace.
The Accessories:
Given that the dress already has the jeweled embellishments, we accessorized by adding a simple pair of studded earrings from J. Crew to keep the attention on the unique dress. She added her favorite Christian Louboutin black pumps with a black Chanel clutch.
Her Look:
For her special day, Ting stuck to her signature hair look of a side part with natural waves. Although she enjoys choosing a color variation in makeup for her clients, she chose to keep her makeup simple and clean. Personally, she prefers simple eyeliner with false lashes for herself to help emphasize her eyes. She kept her look minimal adding just a hint of pink to her cheeks and lips for a sweeter look.
