Claire Pettibone Spring 2016

In the wedding industry, it’s difficult for one to say, “That’s unique.” We’ve all been on that Pinterest fever where we go round-and-round on the merry-go-round of inspiring and aspiring. Well, we are proud to share this truly one-of-a-kind wedding look. Inspired by the Old Wild West, this beautiful number was plucked from Claire Pettibone’s Spring 2016 Romantique’s Collection. Wonderfully blending a rustic and romantic vibe together, you’d think it would give Charlize Theron a run for her money a lá A Million Ways to Die in the West. Styled with cowboy hats and rugged boots, her Spring look book carries an aesthetic all its own.

This gown features lace detailing throughout the gown, a scalloped high neckline, and a trail of delicate button closures along the back. Countering the romanticism of the lace and scalloping details, this couture gown challenged the expected with an unexpected, Black tulle. A train of sheer, black tulle definitely added an edge to the overall look. Such a beautiful contrast, in fact, it seems a balancing act between the gentleness of a white swan and the dark seduction of a black swan.

The Styling

To highlight the beautiful high neckline, we kept the look simple and opted for a pair of edgy statement earrings from our favorite bridal shop, StyledbyTC. With such a gorgeous neckline, it’s best to refrain from any necklaces that may distract the focal point.

Rather than follow in the footsteps of the designer’s lookbook with cowboy hats and boots, we chose to keep the looks more classy and feminine. The cowboy accessories seemed more appropriate for the runway or for brides who were planning a more rustic, farmland themed wedding. For our take on this look, we chose to keep things more feminine and romantic. To add a touch of glam, we styled the dress with a gorgeous clutch (also by StyledbyTC).

We may have traded in the cowboy hat, but also chose to trade in the veil for this look. The black tulle train was the perfect touch to adding some edge to the look, a veil would have seemed a little excessive.

Makeup and Hair

We chose to keep makeup soft and sweet to help balance out the edgy effect of the dress. The Ting Makeup team stuck with soft pinks to give a sweet and gentle bridal look. Our team also chose to let the hair flow effortlessly to help soften the look. Other beautiful alternatives to hair styling for this look would have been a disheveled side braid or even a ponytail.

The Bridal Trend: The Ethereal Effect of Embroidery

Embroidery— once known for being showcased on your grandmother’s curtains has been undergoing a classy makeover. Today, bridal gowns everywhere feature intricate and delicate lace embroidery. Revealing that hint of skin yet remaining tasteful, lace embroidery is a bridal trend that isn’t going anywhere.

The Gown:
This beautiful gown by BHLDN features a sheer paneled deep V-neckline trimmed with lace embroidery. It produces a cut-out illusion without revealing too much skin. However, it still remains characteristic of Old Hollywood bridal gowns with it’s textured lace fabric.

Oscars Coverage: The Glitz and the Glam

Gold. Glitz. Glamour. Hollywood’s stars may have gathered together to celebrate the magic of filmmaking at the Oscars, but the fashion coverage drew just as many viewers to see who wore what down the famous red carpet.

We’re quite knowledgeable in beauty and fashion for the walk down the aisle but the walk down the Oscars aisle was equally inspirational for us! Here are the top style and beauty picks of the night that gained our nods of approval.

Style Sirens:

Trend to Watch: Empire Waisted Gowns

Dedicated readers of our blog know, we are big fans of empire waists! The high waisted gown gives an elongated effect to the figure, lengthening the bottom torso! Legs look lengthened and the flattering effect it has on the body proportion is remarkable for anyone! Our top 2 celebrity style picks, Jennifer Lopez and Jamie Chung, looked remarkable in sparkly, empire waist gowns fit for royalty.

Jennifer Lopez in Elie Saab

Jenny is far from the block in this magical Elie Saab gown! This stunning gown was ever so appropriate for Jennifer Lopez: low cut and shimmery gold. The gown was a glittery concoction straight from a modern girl fairytale. A gorgeous flow of tulle adorned with that perfect amount of sparkle. For a second there, we were so entranced by her grand arrival we felt like our purpose has been met in watching the Oscars! She may have made headlines for her jaw-dropping gowns in the past, but she definitely didn’t disappoint this year!

The Vintage Valentine

Hearts, get ready to be at a stand still.

The late actress and humanitarian, Audrey Hepburn, inspired this look we created for our vintage-vibes Valentine. Audrey is a style icon whose style is truly everlasting and timeless. Though style trends have taken a turn since her time, her signature ladylike and demure looks continue to influence trends even today. Today, we can thank our “retro style queen of the 21st century”, Taylor Swift for this.

A Seaside Birthday Gathering

The cool, fresh oceanside breeze danced with the sheer, white curtains. All you can hear are the quiet tapping of forks returning to their plates after bringing satisfying smiles to diners around. In the midst of it all, you can hear the chatter of good friends united in celebration for a dear friend.

It was a birthday gathering for our very own founder of Ting Makeup and Hair, Ting, at The Penthouse at the Huntley Hotel. The Penthouse is one of her favorite brunch spots for some scrumptious dishes and fabulous cocktails amid a gorgeous view of the Santa Monica beach.

The Pearl of the Reception

For many brides, their hunt for the perfect wedding dress is just one of the many hurdles on their journey to the big day. Taking the wedding guests’ breath away once while walking down the aisle just isn’t enough. When it comes to the wedding reception, looking breathtaking twice sounds just about right.

The Gown:

Pearlescent in soft variations of off-white cream and purplish grays, the Lucca Maxi gown by Watters is simply magical. The highlight of this dreamy gown is the intricately sequin embroidered bodice with sheer paneling along the front and back.  The paneling above the dipped back keeps the look classic and tasteful, showcasing the ongoing lace embroidery of the bodice.
