Claire Pettibone Spring 2016

In the wedding industry, it’s difficult for one to say, “That’s unique.” We’ve all been on that Pinterest fever where we go round-and-round on the merry-go-round of inspiring and aspiring. Well, we are proud to share this truly one-of-a-kind wedding look. Inspired by the Old Wild West, this beautiful number was plucked from Claire Pettibone’s Spring 2016 Romantique’s Collection. Wonderfully blending a rustic and romantic vibe together, you’d think it would give Charlize Theron a run for her money a lá A Million Ways to Die in the West. Styled with cowboy hats and rugged boots, her Spring look book carries an aesthetic all its own.

This gown features lace detailing throughout the gown, a scalloped high neckline, and a trail of delicate button closures along the back. Countering the romanticism of the lace and scalloping details, this couture gown challenged the expected with an unexpected, Black tulle. A train of sheer, black tulle definitely added an edge to the overall look. Such a beautiful contrast, in fact, it seems a balancing act between the gentleness of a white swan and the dark seduction of a black swan.

The Styling

To highlight the beautiful high neckline, we kept the look simple and opted for a pair of edgy statement earrings from our favorite bridal shop, StyledbyTC. With such a gorgeous neckline, it’s best to refrain from any necklaces that may distract the focal point.

Rather than follow in the footsteps of the designer’s lookbook with cowboy hats and boots, we chose to keep the looks more classy and feminine. The cowboy accessories seemed more appropriate for the runway or for brides who were planning a more rustic, farmland themed wedding. For our take on this look, we chose to keep things more feminine and romantic. To add a touch of glam, we styled the dress with a gorgeous clutch (also by StyledbyTC).

We may have traded in the cowboy hat, but also chose to trade in the veil for this look. The black tulle train was the perfect touch to adding some edge to the look, a veil would have seemed a little excessive.

Makeup and Hair

We chose to keep makeup soft and sweet to help balance out the edgy effect of the dress. The Ting Makeup team stuck with soft pinks to give a sweet and gentle bridal look. Our team also chose to let the hair flow effortlessly to help soften the look. Other beautiful alternatives to hair styling for this look would have been a disheveled side braid or even a ponytail.

You probably noticed a certain photographer’s name frequenting our pages. Jeremy Chou. As talented as he is experienced, his work never fails to impress us. So, given the opportunity to participate in his master workshop, “The Hybrid Workshop” held at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, we eagerly jumped to it! Jeremy teamed up with his friend, Kirk Mastin of Mastin Studio as instructors for a 3-day workshop sharing their knowledge and skills with wedding photographers from all over the country! Vendors, creative artists, and photographers gathered together for this special treat.

Meet and Greet:

Our team had a wonderful stay at the Ace Hotel given that the workshop was over the duration of 3 days. The Bridal Trend: The Ethereal Effect of Embroidery

Embroidery— once known for being showcased on your grandmother’s curtains has been undergoing a classy makeover. Today, bridal gowns everywhere feature intricate and delicate lace embroidery. Revealing that hint of skin yet remaining tasteful, lace embroidery is a bridal trend that isn’t going anywhere.

The Gown:
This beautiful gown by BHLDN features a sheer paneled deep V-neckline trimmed with lace embroidery. It produces a cut-out illusion without revealing too much skin. However, it still remains characteristic of Old Hollywood bridal gowns with it’s textured lace fabric.

The Pearl of the Reception

For many brides, their hunt for the perfect wedding dress is just one of the many hurdles on their journey to the big day. Taking the wedding guests’ breath away once while walking down the aisle just isn’t enough. When it comes to the wedding reception, looking breathtaking twice sounds just about right.

The Gown:

Pearlescent in soft variations of off-white cream and purplish grays, the Lucca Maxi gown by Watters is simply magical. The highlight of this dreamy gown is the intricately sequin embroidered bodice with sheer paneling along the front and back.  The paneling above the dipped back keeps the look classic and tasteful, showcasing the ongoing lace embroidery of the bodice.

The Everlasting Bride

In simpler days, wedding gowns were kept clean and simple, free of embellishments and infinite frills. They ranged from laced sleeves to strapless gowns, guiding bridal trends into a more high-fashioned turn. But one bride that is everlasting, is definitely the “vintage bride”.

Trend Alert: “Sometimes, Less is enough”

The vintage bride has quite the minimalistic taste, sticking to simplicity and classic cuts. We selected Badgley Mischka’s Livia gown to channel our classic bride for its pin-tucked, deep neckline along with the beautiful draping of the cowlback. The deep, open back feature is elegant, yet tastefully sexy as well. This gown is timeless while bringing the focus on the bride herself. Even without the tulle and lace we see on most gowns, this number reminds us of what a ballerina dancer would wear on her wedding day.
