The Everlasting Bride

In simpler days, wedding gowns were kept clean and simple, free of embellishments and infinite frills. They ranged from laced sleeves to strapless gowns, guiding bridal trends into a more high-fashioned turn. But one bride that is everlasting, is definitely the “vintage bride”.

Trend Alert: “Sometimes, Less is enough”

The vintage bride has quite the minimalistic taste, sticking to simplicity and classic cuts. We selected Badgley Mischka’s Livia gown to channel our classic bride for its pin-tucked, deep neckline along with the beautiful draping of the cowlback. The deep, open back feature is elegant, yet tastefully sexy as well. This gown is timeless while bringing the focus on the bride herself. Even without the tulle and lace we see on most gowns, this number reminds us of what a ballerina dancer would wear on her wedding day.

“Chic-ly Professional”

Overalls have made another comeback this past year, and we’re excited to take on this fashion all-star our own way. Our new and improved version of overalls is from ONE by Rachel Antonoff.   Spending the day in the office means looking professional while staying comfortable. This statement jumpsuit is made of a thick, blue and green flannel material meant for some major comfort.

A Hidden Gem

While strolling down the streets of Pasadena, California, we happened to stumble upon what seemed to be a quaint, adorable house. Little did we realize that our little discovery had more in store for us through its little door.

More than just a house, “Madeline Garden” is an afternoon tea spot frequented by the locals! The chic décor of the interior practically transported us into a modernized Victorian lounge fit for a socialite! With beautiful natural light shining through the windows and rich jewel tones of purple and golden yellow, the restaurant was reminiscent of a room meant for royalty. We were ready to enjoy a peaceful afternoon with a cup of tea and scrumptious hors d’oeuvres in this lavish setting.

Trending: Office Chic Our Way

Office wear has long surpassed the basics of black, white, and gray. Why not try a pop of color to keep your work attire fresh and modern? This hot pink jumpsuit by Adelyn Rae is the perfect choice to redefine a new kind of classic.

Adelyn Rae did a beautiful job designing this jumpsuit featuring a V-neckline, double straps over the shoulders, and a wide-legged trouser. With a slight flare along the length of the legs, the simplistic straps help to keep the look streamlined and lean.

Looking for a little cover-up to stay cozy? We finished off the look with an oversized, black Theory coat with a subtle striped pattern on the interior. A classic YSL clutch and a dark pair of Chanel shades keep everything demure and polished.

Engagement Session: Alex and Cat

The Back story:

Our groom for this engagement session is one of my childhood friends, Alex. When we first interviewed Cat, our bride-to-be, on how the couple first met, she simply replied, “We met through friends, and that was it. It’s not that interesting.” Her simple and quite humbling response was definitely not a reflection of their admiral love for one another. Being around the couple throughout this shoot definitely magnified their love for each other to those around them. It is apparent in the photos that they are such a fun couple, full of laughter, and adoration for one another! Aside from styling the outfits, makeup, and hair for this shoot, we will be joining them in Taiwan as their artists for their nuptials on May 2015!

We had Tina Chiou Photography as our special photographer to help capture these sweet moments for our Mr. and Mrs.-to-be!

His & Hers

Outfit 1

Hers

This look was inspired by our “Princess in Every Girl” post with the same Space 46 Boutique white, tulle skirt. However, we kept things more casual to match our bride’s casual and sporty personal style. To do so, we paired the skirt with a denim chambray button-down top to keep the look “down-to-earth”.
Sticking to the casual, sporty vibe, the bride added a pair of white Converse sneakers to bring the look together. After all, she is a bride so a dash of white was absolutely necessary!

His

The groom complemented his bride’s look by matching her with a similar denim shirt by Ben Sherman. We intentionally chose different shades of blue for the bride and groom to give them both a varying dynamic in the photos. He completed his look with a pair of Diesel jeans and Jack Purcell Converse sneakers.

A New Year, A New Bride

Here at Ting Makeup and Hair, we are ready to start the new year with our very first bridal post! We look forward to sharing more tips and trends in this coming new year for all our ladies and future brides-to-be!

Trend Alert: “Pearlescent Tones are the New White” A woman in white from head-to-toe has always been recognized as a blushing bride rather than mistaken as a snow princess. “Wedding” and “white” have always gone hand-in-hand. But what would modern brides attest to? There’s a new “white” trend in town: subtle tones of blush, champagne, and even gray!

Orange Lace

Ringing in the New Year

“5… 4… 3… 2…. 1…!”

The last numbers shared among loved ones all around the globe will bring everyone around the world into the New Year together.
With such a crowd, there should be no doubt in your mind about finding that perfect number to ring in the new year.

We know that we love anything sparkly and new, but what about this orange Adelyn Rae dress from their Spring 2015 collection?
Sequins may be too loud at times, but the bold orange color of this dress makes just as many heads turn without looking like a disco ball.

Lady in Red

Christmas has always been my favorite holiday of the year. While I’m kind of sad that it’s now passed, the city is still filled with decorated trees and the holiday spirit still lingers in the air. Keeping the holiday spirit very much alive is this cute red dress from Anthropologie. This beautiful dress has an all-over lace pattern, which I complimented with just a few accessories. In this case, simple does the trick.
