That Crisp Summer White

With the summer heat rolling in, we’re always looking for that brisk, light look to keep our spirits upbeat! To beat the heat, we dropped into a favorite pressed juicery, “The Springs Café” for a refreshing pick-me-up!

Style Tip: Crisp, Clean White

To counter the hot sweltering heat, we tend to gravitate towards clean and simple whites! There’s something about wearing white from head-to-toe that keeps the look oh so chic. Take for instance, our choice for this look, the Kate Spade New York Tobin shirt dress. A charming, short-sleeved dress featuring an empire waist A-line skirt, this dress is everything but boring. We love the unique detailing of the muted, texture that gives a modern yet vintage vibe to the piece.

How to Accessorize:

The dress is quite versatile and easy to transform into a playful or ladylike look. For this particular shoot, we chose to have some fun by adding a fun pop of color. We paired it up with a pair of sea foam green Wildfox sunglasses along with a beautiful, jade green embellished Alice and Olivia clutch. Our selection of colors was quite reminiscent of sea glass, giving us that cool vibe we were looking for.

Tea Time, is the Best Time

Living in a time where everything is running fast forward, it’s nice to slow the day down to really enjoy life. Enjoying a lovely catch-up session with a dear girlfriend over tea and simple indulgences sounds like a slice of heaven. Wouldn’t you agree?

Ting sported a matching two-piece set by Alice and Olivia for a lovely afternoon. This fun yet romantic set featured a black and white lace-trimmed print on a cropped short-sleeved top and high waist shorts. Elegant, yet fun, this outfit perfectly complimented her personality!

To keep the focus on the fun number she wore, Ting kept her choice of accessories simple and understated. Her ivory Elizabeth and James crossbody bucket bag was practical and muted. However, adding her favorite pair of simple black Christian Louboutin pumps was the perfect choice in keeping her look sophisticated.

Claire Pettibone Spring 2016

In the wedding industry, it’s difficult for one to say, “That’s unique.” We’ve all been on that Pinterest fever where we go round-and-round on the merry-go-round of inspiring and aspiring. Well, we are proud to share this truly one-of-a-kind wedding look. Inspired by the Old Wild West, this beautiful number was plucked from Claire Pettibone’s Spring 2016 Romantique’s Collection. Wonderfully blending a rustic and romantic vibe together, you’d think it would give Charlize Theron a run for her money a lá A Million Ways to Die in the West. Styled with cowboy hats and rugged boots, her Spring look book carries an aesthetic all its own.

This gown features lace detailing throughout the gown, a scalloped high neckline, and a trail of delicate button closures along the back. Countering the romanticism of the lace and scalloping details, this couture gown challenged the expected with an unexpected, Black tulle. A train of sheer, black tulle definitely added an edge to the overall look. Such a beautiful contrast, in fact, it seems a balancing act between the gentleness of a white swan and the dark seduction of a black swan.

The Styling

To highlight the beautiful high neckline, we kept the look simple and opted for a pair of edgy statement earrings from our favorite bridal shop, StyledbyTC. With such a gorgeous neckline, it’s best to refrain from any necklaces that may distract the focal point.

Rather than follow in the footsteps of the designer’s lookbook with cowboy hats and boots, we chose to keep the looks more classy and feminine. The cowboy accessories seemed more appropriate for the runway or for brides who were planning a more rustic, farmland themed wedding. For our take on this look, we chose to keep things more feminine and romantic. To add a touch of glam, we styled the dress with a gorgeous clutch (also by StyledbyTC).

We may have traded in the cowboy hat, but also chose to trade in the veil for this look. The black tulle train was the perfect touch to adding some edge to the look, a veil would have seemed a little excessive.

Makeup and Hair

We chose to keep makeup soft and sweet to help balance out the edgy effect of the dress. The Ting Makeup team stuck with soft pinks to give a sweet and gentle bridal look. Our team also chose to let the hair flow effortlessly to help soften the look. Other beautiful alternatives to hair styling for this look would have been a disheveled side braid or even a ponytail.

The Perfect Bridal Look

Hello Ting Makeup and Hair followers!

Some new news—recently, I had the privilege of being a guest on the popular Taiwanese Talk Show, LA TV 18 Midday Buzz. I was invited to appear on the show to discuss the trending makeup styles of the 2015 bridal world. I loved my time on LA TV 18 Midday Buzz and sharing with their audience, but now I can’t wait to share one of the biggest bridal makeup trends with my Ting audience.

Let’s Get Started!

One of this year’s most highly requested and beautifully executed makeup trends is the natural look. In the past, we’ve seen brides go for the full glam or the smoky and sultry look. But this year, LESS IS MORE. Makeup artists and brides are placing more emphasis on blush tone cheeks, soft pink lips, and flawless skin. Together these features create the look of pure radiance, as demonstrated by our lovely model Ashlyn Pearce.

Ashlyn Pearce is a renowned model in the bridal industry and she is currently starring in the soap opera The Bold and The Beautiful. She has also been a dear friend of mine since she was 15; so needless to say, working with her was a pure joy! Photographed by Kim Le Photography, Ashlyn wore a remarkable gown by the lovely Claire Pettibone. Pettibone is a highly sought after designer, creating dresses for celebrities like Carrie Underwood and Mark Zuckerberg’s wife Priscilla Chan. Our family at Ting Makeup and Hair absolutely adores Claire Pettibone and is obsessed with her legendary dress, Beauty.

The ivory beaded lace bodice with blush and green-jeweled appliques highlights the soft, pink accents of Ashlyn’s makeup. Ting Makeup and Hair focused on using a neutral palette for the eyes, but created dramatic lashes for an angelic look. We used a blush and lipstick with pink and rouge undertones to create a natural “sun-kissed” glow and lusciously, plump lips. We gathered Ashlyn’s hair into a twisted side-bun to pull the hair away from the face, giving a romantic and polished finish.

Our family at Ting Makeup and Hair hope you love this look just as much as we do! Come visit us again soon!!!

Ting’s Beauty Team at “The Hybrid Workshop” in Palm Springs

You probably noticed a certain photographer’s name frequenting our pages. Jeremy Chou. As talented as he is experienced, his work never fails to impress us. So, given the opportunity to participate in his master workshop, “The Hybrid Workshop” held at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, we eagerly jumped to it! Jeremy teamed up with his friend, Kirk Mastin of Mastin Studio as instructors for a 3-day workshop sharing their knowledge and skills with wedding photographers from all over the country! Vendors, creative artists, and photographers gathered together for this special treat.

Meet and Greet:

Our team had a wonderful stay at the Ace Hotel given that the workshop was over the duration of 3 days. We had so much fun meeting new faces in the wedding and photography industry, working alongside other professionals, and learning new skills from one another! The environment was so welcoming making it a great learning experience for the students and vendors involved.
