You know those times when you’re at a wedding banquet sitting and waiting for the bride and groom’s grand entrance into the dining hall? While some guests are there enjoying their cocktails, others are waiting in anticipation to see “that dress”. The dress that takes a moment’s time for the bride to slip into while a beauty team scrambles to freshen her up. That dress. The one that will take the guests’
breath away once more…
A quick-change out of the wedding dress and into a breathtaking evening gown for the dinner reception has become a new tradition for modern weddings. Today, Ting’s Makeup and Hair team is here to share our style and beauty tips for our take on that grand entrance as the new “Mr. and Mrs.”.
The Gown:
This gorgeous, sparkly beige Notte by Marchesa gown we are featuring here is truly stunning all on its own. Designed with tasteful, beaded embellishments in a matelasse pattern, this gown is the embodiment of classy perfection. And to top it off? How about that fabulous tulle skirt to add a kick of high-fashion appeal?
Now that the ceremony has commenced and it’s time for a night of celebratory fun, the last thing a bride wants to slip into is a gown that won’t permit movement. This gown gives just enough wiggle room for a bride who is ready to let her hair down and enjoy the festivities.
How to Accessorize:
Accessories can make or break an outfit. Accessorizing in excess (for a detailed gown such as this one) can drown out the beauty of it. Since the dress has sparkly details of its own, Ting’s team made the rightful choice to skimp on the accessories. We opted out on a necklace to avoid taking the focus off of the gorgeous embroidery along the neckline. Instead, choosing to add vintage- inspired J. Crew earrings and an ornate vintage ring helped to add that bit of glitzy glamour we needed.
The Shoes:
Comfort is key. Looking fabulous should never be at the cost of comfort even on the big day. Little did people know we hid a comfortable pair of wedges under that lovely tulle skirt!
Style Tip:
If a gown is floor-skimmingly long, always sneak on a pair of wedge heels! They’re comfortable, less likely to cause slippage or even break while hitting the dance floor. Adding a little height to your look is an extra asset one should always go for to help lengthen your frame.
The Makeup:
Nude-beige is a tricky shade of color to master. But when done right, the look is a new level of chic (yes, we’re talking a classic chic that only this color can convey). The trick to nude is balance in accordance to your natural skin tone. Since this dress was very close to our skin tone, we chose to brighten up our complexion with more pinks. We whipped out our cult-favorite, the Naked 1 palette, to use its neutral shadows to create a soft, smoky eye. For our lips and cheeks, we used some new products by YSL that we can’t stop gushing about! The YSL baby doll kiss and blush collection #8 is the perfect mauve pink to imitate that natural flush for a blushing bride.
The Hair:
Our hair stylist chose to create tousled, undone waves for a flirty, carefree look. For your reception, feel free to let your hair down to sway to its natural movement! It’s time for you to feel comfortable while enjoying your wedding party!
