While strolling down the streets of Pasadena, California, we happened to stumble upon what seemed to be a quaint, adorable house. Little did we realize that our little discovery had more in store for us through its little door.
More than just a house, “Madeline Garden” is an afternoon tea spot frequented by the locals! The chic décor of the interior practically transported us into a modernized Victorian lounge fit for a socialite! With beautiful natural light shining through the windows and rich jewel tones of purple and golden yellow, the restaurant was reminiscent of a room meant for royalty. We were ready to enjoy a peaceful afternoon with a cup of tea and scrumptious hors d’oeuvres in this lavish setting.
Our look for the day was quite appropriate for the location as well! Though we are still undergoing a Californian winter, we vied for a softer color palette rather than wearing black from head to toe. After all, we’re hoping spring is just around the corner and are ready in a heartbeat to enjoy the beautiful sun the day had to offer.
We chose a pastel pink cashmere sweater by Equipment as our basic piece for the look. The full, tweed skater skirt was structured with just a bit of gold sparkle to complement the beautiful pattern. How can we deny our love for a high-waist skirt that emphasizes the waistline!
Pairing the soft crew-neck sweater with the feminine skirt relaxes the look by keeping it fun and casual!
And of course, we still get the occasional chills from the breeze outside. Throwing on our gray Vince peacoat definitely does its job to keep us warm while still looking polished! Slipping on our favorite Christian Louboutin black pumps and we were ready to seek what was around the corner. You never know what special find you’ll discover: perhaps a bookstore or antique shop?
